In our research, we found DeLonghi espresso machines that had mostly positive reviews, so we were surprised to find that the DeLonghi EC5 espresso machine had an equal mix of good and bad reviews.

On the positive side, many reviewers touted the EC5’s ability to make great tasting espresso and lauding its low price when compared to other espresso machines (especially other DeLonghi machines). The size of the DeLonghi EC5 espresso maker is relatively small, while still fitting 2 full-size cups comfortably, which was another plus in the eyes of reviewers.

On the negative side, there were many reviewers who gave a laundry list of reasons not to purchase the DeLonghi EC5. One of the main reasons was that it broke down quite frequently and that it was only good for making espresso. As far as frothing goes, more reviewers than not stated that it wasn’t able to properly froth. A few reviewers noted that various pieces on it broke on occasion, such as the milk steamer, and that – in general – the EC5 is not a well-made espresso maker.

Conclusion

If you are looking for a cheap espresso machine that will perform just the basic tasks, the DeLonghi EC5 Steam-Driven Espresso and Cappuccino Machine may be right for you, but for a little bit more money, you can get an espresso machine that is better made and has many more features that espresso lovers will like.
